  2. Pretty misleading title given you only have 695,300 responses over 5+ years.

  3. If there is one thing in life I am probably in the top 1% of, it’s amazing sleepers. Dead to the world at 9pm and awake at 6:30am no alarm.

  4. I feel like every single poll, ever conducted needs a “pass” option. Like, “I don’t want to answer”. “I dont know” MAYBE serves a bit of that, but it’s got a different meaning. We need a bucket for the “null” answers.

  5. lol I don’t even remember the last time I felt fully rested.

Party teen > father of 3 really made that an unlikely event.

  6. I have narcolepsy and EDS and I never get enough sleep. I could sleep 10 hours and not get enough. It sucks always being tired.

  7. I’ve prioritized sleep since I was a teenager and I’m decades older now. Aside from some acute severe anxiety situations, I’ve pretty much consistently slept like a queen despite being a mom of multiple kids. My husband is an angel.

  8. I feel like the “I don’t know” were the moms that were up three times last night and were asked the survey question while trying to keep their toddler from throwing a full cup of strawberry yogurt on the goddamn floor.

  9. Some of the time. A.K.A. during the weekend when I can sleep 10-12 hours undisturbed. Other than those days, no, not nearly enough.

  10. In 2024 I would’ve said most of the time, currently I would only say some of the time.

  11. Only like 1% of the population are short sleepers who need less than 7-8 hours of sleep a night.

I’d be curious how many of the always group average less than 7 hours of sleep a night, bet it’s higher than 1%. People are often chronically fatigued and incorrectly think they’re getting enough rest.

  12. I feel like there should be an option between some of the time and never, like people who get enough sleep once a week probably click never cause they feel like they never do.

  13. I bet the main culprit is sleep apnea.

After i treated mine it completely turned my life around. It’s absolutely insane how deep the impact is.

  14. Sleep is a product of physical exertion and a sensorium primarily composed of predictable data. You can’t sit still all day, flooding your mind with new information and expect to sleep well.

  15. Yeah I have a hard time getting my 4 hours in. Just have a hard time sleeping

  16. poeple having jobs fitting that description .. or two Oo

  17. Sometimes I do get a full nights sleep but not every night

  18. Most likely stress related, either from having too many kids around or financial concern from living too far above their means.

  19. ‘Enough’ sleep? That’s fairly subjective, what would be enough sleep for one person is not nearly enough for another. I know people who are always full of energy off of like 4-5 hours of sleep, but there are those who get 8-10 and still feel tired.

  20. When I was in college most of the students in my class claimed to get less than 5 hours of sleep. A large portion got about 3.5 hours.

I was like one of 3 people who said they slept 8-9 hours a night. I can’t function on less and everyone’s running around like that. 💀

  21. I can’t remember the last time I woke up feeling rested. Even if I sleep in as late as I want with no alarm, I always feel like I could fall right back asleep if I just close my eyes again.

  22. I don’t get enough sleep but it’s my fault. I have ample opportunity to not drink and smoke till the wee hours of the morning. But let’s be practical gotta cope somehow

  23. I go to bed early with the intent of getting extra sleep, but my body is like “no thanks” and wakes up that same amount of early

  24. I really don’t. I guess I can’t say “never” like once in a blue moon I am so exhausted I pass out early.

The issue is that I am going, going, going working or taking care of a kid. Then when the kid goes to bed I have time to myself or with my wife alone, both things I don’t feel like I get enough of with my busy schedule. So I inevitably stay up later than I should, getting a second wind due to doing what I want to do for myself.

Furthermore, even before I had kids I managed to not get enough sleep due to a similar mindset and having various obligations. Basically I am a fairly busy person and tend to sacrifice sleep for other things. I’ve always done this as far as I can remember and it’s gotten worse now that I have a young child.

  25. Everyone has the same 24 hours in a day, it’s up to YOU how to use them. I know plenty of people that would love to get more sleep, just not at the expense of a lifestyle change.

Good sleep hygiene and consistency. I start getting ready for bed at 8PM, no screens before bed. An hour of reading and meditation. Cut down on caffeine, daily exercise, a healthy diet and no alcohol.

I get it, everyone is busy. Watching a TV show, browsing social media or playing a video game before bed might be the only leisure activity people can afford. I have the same mentality of staying fit, everyone wants it but few people are willing to actually make the sacrifices.

  26. Bar graphs are not beautiful. Take this to r/mildlyinteresting where it belongs.
