Fully relate, as an American living in Spain… I’m fluent in Spainish and don’t have to translate in my head. But I am not nearly as clever, witty, smart, well spoken, or sharp as I am in English. Honestly, it’s insanely frustrating!

Me trying to brush up on my Spanish while translating from English while realizing my French helps me so much more but I don’t think in French anymore 😭
I study in Germany. I have learned the language when I was small, and am very comfortable speaking it, but the sharp mind or jokes that I like to make take way too much time to be said in german. Or they come out clumsily, or I get stuck at the catch phrase bevause I van’t find the word. Adding to that that gwrmans have a horrible sense of humour, and me beeing a person who loves jokes makes this all pretty frustrating.

A mí a veces me pasa al revés: sé cómo se dice en inglés y tengo que pensar el equivalente en español.
Learning a language it’s always difficult, but one thing is to be a native spanish speaker and learn another romance languaje (italian, portuguese, catalan, french…) or a germanic language: some sentences are sorted difference, the pronunciation.
Specially, spanish it’s about vowels, and english is about consonants. Make that switch in your head it’s difficult.
Yo hablo varios idiomas romances y no me cuesta mucho hacer switch. Jo parlo variis idiomes d’origen llatí i no em costa gaire fer switch. Je parle plusieurs langues romanes et il ne m’est pas difficile du faire switch
Escuchadme, no os metáis a traductor o intérprete. Es un infierno xDDDD
(disculpen mi vocabulario paupérrimo, pero sí) es putamente cierto 🙁
