  1. WARSAW, April 5 (Reuters) – Poland on Tuesday signed a deal with Washington to purchase 250 Abrams (GD.N) tanks as it seeks to bolster its military in an effort to deter potential Russian aggression on its eastern border.

The sale of Abrams tanks to Poland, which is also home to a future U.S. missile defence site, is another sign of a deep and growing defence relationship with the United States. It follows the deployment of nearly 5,000 additional U.S. troops to Poland as well as additional fighter aircraft, as part of Washington’s response to the Ukraine crisis.

Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak said the deal is worth approximately 4.75 billion dollars and that the first tanks would be delivered this year.

  2. I am not sure Poland has considered the logistics of running 250 Abrams tanks. Those things practically use money for fuel.

I understand defense is critical right now, but the Russian mistake was not considering logistics, and this seems to be a similar one. Challengers or Leopards might have been more practical.

  3. Are not tanks kind of big targets in modern battlefield ? As we see now in Ukraine?

Would not be air defence systems wiser thing to purchase ?

  4. So we all took a loan for some tanks,

How do you feel about it ?

I think this money should have been spent on good aircraft, it’s pretty safe having in mind we can use any European airport when facing a threat from east.

If you get the air advantage, tanks are done
