What is the difference between ‘Serie document’ and ‘Număr document’ on a Romanian passport?

  1. I’m trying to renew my passport at the consulate and it asks me for both of the numbers. The only Romanian documentation I have is my passport. Can I put the same number for both? I only see a serial number on my passport

Edit: It also says that “Serie document” can only be up to 5 characters long. My passport number is 9 characters, so I don’t know what to put here

  2. In Romania our IDs have these distinct serial (2 letters representing your county) and number (6 number different for everyone) like XX123456.
You should try to check the “alta țara” (other County) checkbox and see what it asks for.

  3. That field refers to a Romanian ID card. Romanian ID cards have 2 letters as “serie” and 6 numbers as “number”.

If you don’t have a Romanian ID card, or are from another country tick the “alta tara” radio button and it should ask you for something else.

  4. Why do you want Pașaport Electronic Simplu and not Pașaport CRDS (the passport for Romanian citizens who live abroad / do not have Romanian ID)?

  5. That’s the series and number for your Romanian ID if you have one, those fields are not for your current passport. If you don’t have a Romanian ID choose “alta tara” and fill your ID number from the country where it’s emitted
