Partygate: How the press bullied Boris Johnson into lifting lockdown

  1. The press collectively made another lockdown politically impossible through sheer focus on the hypocrisy of the government. Any restrictions after that point would have had zero teeth. Had they not done that, then obeyance would be a lot higher and you and I would probably be in a lockdown right now.

Thank you, journalists. You saved us from another repeat of last year, though it was absolutely not your intention.

  2. A site called OpenDemocracy whining about the end of enforced restrictions no one voted for? They want *more* emergency measures the government can use to restrict us? Maybe it’s short for “Open (to interpretation) Democracy”.

  3. “How the Right-wing press used partygate to get rid of lockdown”

Bastards at openDemocracy changed the title while you weren’t looking
