Aegean Airlines’ investment in Spanish Volotea eight months ago essentially marked its first investment step at a European level, expanding its role beyond its narrow domestic borders, Chairman Eftichios Vassilakis told Tuesday general meeting of shareholders.
As Volotea’s performance so far shows, this particular move, although a high-risk investment, as he described it, is proving to be positive.
“In the coming years, as both Aegean and Volotea will have a larger fleet, we plan to organize a more targeted coverage of airports around Greece, through increased Volotea routes – mainly to serve foreign visitors,” said Vassilakis.
