  1. ***The Telegraph reports:***

British forces targetted Houthi rebels in a series of air strikes on Tuesday evening marking their first military involvement since Donald Trump’s re-election.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) said the action was part of a joint operation [alongside US forces targeting the militant group,](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2025/04/05/trump-video-strike-houthis-yemen-bombing-costs/) following its campaign of attacks on ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

The strikes were conducted by Royal Air Force Typhoon FGR4s, which used Paveway IV precision guided bombs on a cluster of buildings used by the Houthis to manufacture drones of the type used in attacks on ships.

The MoD said “very careful planning had been completed to allow the targets to be prosecuted with minimal risk to civilians or non-military infrastructure”.

John Healey, the Defence Secretary, said all UK aircraft and personnel involved in the operation had returned to base safely.

“This government will always act in the interests of our national and economic security,” he said.

“Royal Air Force Typhoons have successfully conducted strikes against a Houthi military target in Yemen and all UK aircraft and personnel have returned safely to base.

“We conducted these strikes, supported by the US, to degrade Houthi capabilities and prevent further attacks against UK and International shipping.”

Mr Healey said the [Houthis’ activities in the Red Sea](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2024/10/03/yemens-houthi-rebels-strike-british-oil-ship-red-sea/) were a “persistent threat” to “freedom of navigation”.

  2. You know what would stop attacks on shipping? Ceasefire in gaza.. far preferable to bombing the world’s poorest people. This all stops when isreal is stopped

  3. Why are we taking part in this? Starmer needs to get his nose from up Trumps arse

  4. Guys it’s okay, we cut disability benefits so we can pay for bombing Yemen, and killing hundreds of civilians to get 1 Houthi terrorist, all done for the US and Israel

  5. When Biden’s administration did this, they quickly realised that it wasn’t really helping so cut back on it. Now Trump wants to do it so he can be a big boy and he’s roped us into it.

  6. My greatest respect and admiration for the only nation on earth that does more than present lip service for stopping the ongoing genocide in the criminal Zionist enterprise named Israel. By the way, trying to stop an ongoing genocide is an obligation for every nation under Article 1 of resolution 260 A of the UN charter on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide.
