I'm an American of partially Welsh descent. Today at my work we had a "Celebrate Diversity Potluck Lunch" so I made these. Definitely cooked too hot but I'll learn and make them better next time. People were brave and tried them anyway.

Yeah you fucked that mate
My goodness
Some say its the attempt that counts.
are these some sort of substitute for Welsh coal or sth
Just tell them you’re of partially Canadian descent so ya made hockey pucks.
I don’t even know how this was possible….
Keep the pan/griddle on a medium/medium low heat. Wait for a light browning. Takes 3-5 minutes a side. The middle may not look done, but that’s okay. The residual heat will get it. A tiny bit of butter / lard should be used to grease the pan.
Next time you make a batch. Cook them one at a time until you figure out your timings. There is a bit of a nack to it that you need to figure out.
Bobl bach…
Hockey puck?
Hockey pucks ?
To be fair, I like a good burned Welsh cake, but there seems to be a lack of sugar sprinkled on the top of those.
I’m so confused, I can’t tell if I should upvote, or downvote this.
Maggy Thatcher wants to close down your oven after producing that
New Zealand style Welsh cakes.
There’s an art to a Welsh cake and it’s all a very hit or miss kind of thing. Too hot and they almost immediately burn, not hot enough and they don’t cook in the middle
Also watch them like a hawk otherwise they might just burn for the fun of it! 😭
I’ve been lucky enough to only ever have a baking stone to make them, never tried in a pan
Nice attempt though! Keep at it and you’ll learn what works best for you eventually
