The US, the UK and France had a secret agreement not to give air support. They didn’t inform the Dutch of that, who fully expected that when needed, they would get air support.
It was a Dutch fuck up, totally unprepared and undertrained troops for the situation. But our allies also put us in that situation.

The fundamental failing of DUTCHBAT was to listen to the rules of engagement and act like old school blue hat observers – not peace keepers. That was a failing of command.
The Brits got somewhat lucky in goradze, we very nearly could be talking about the goradze massacre, but did not let the RoE dictate their ability to stop the Serbs. Not in goradze, but 1 Cheshire’s deliberately driving between Serbs and Bosnians shooting at each other to take fire and then be allowed to ‘defend themselves’ was a good example.

What you’re forgetting is that the serbians had a much larger force that was far better equiped with tanks for example, even if the dutch fought it would have been an absolute bloodshed for the dutch forces. So again how does this make sense in any way? Did you think the dutch forces wanted to watch people being murdered??? Obviously not, they were being forced to
