  1. Sadly, it seems true that in large part, the idea of an external enemy being an existential threat kept the USSR together. When this feeling began to dissipate it weakened the union.

  2. Hmm yes, Hitler’s invasion was long over but Soviets never stopped putting all of their money into the military…….”only for defense” of course
