A woman has appeared at Derry Magistrates Court charged with stealing cleaning products from Iceland.

Cheyenne Hazlett (21) of Aberfoyle Terrace in Derry was charged with stealing £17.50 worth of cleaning products on April 30 last year.

The court heard that Hazlett had entered the shop with a trolly and staff grew suspicious due to her body language, telling colleagues to keep an eye on her.

Hazlett attempted to take the products without paying and, when confronted by staff, said ‘I have 63 convictions. I don’t give a f***’.

Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley said that Hazlett is currently serving a sentence for another theft that occurred in December last year and asked the court not to interfere with her scheduled release date in two weeks time.

She was given three months in custody, suspended for one year.
