Seattle Kraken defenseman Adam Larsson has been named to Team Sweden’s World Championship roster.
The 32-year-old has represented Sweden four times at this event, previously winning a gold medal in 2018. He’s also represented Sweden at the U-18s and the world juniors, collecting silver and bronze medals.
Larsson was left off of Sweden’s 4 Nations Face-Off roster and will likely use this year’s world championship as a way of showcasing what he could provide them for the upcoming 2026 Olympics.
Additional NHLers joining Larsson on Sweden’s blue line will be Rasmus Andersson, Marcus Pettersson and Simon Edvinsson, all of whom would like to impress the coaches and management as they attempt to fight for a roster spot on Sweden’s Olympic team.
Up front, the Swedes have named five NHLers to their roster, those being Alex Wennberg, William Eklund, Leo Carlsson, Isac Lundeström and Mika Zibanejad.
Sweden has not won gold since Larsson last played, but won the bronze medal at last year’s event. With players attempting to showcase themselves at the international level, the expectation is that the 2025 world championship will be very competitive.
