  1. Probably a case of workplace politics and one of those managers that love to wield their “power”. LIDL should probably take a hard look into this store, since it’s likely not the only problem there.

  2. This happens at other retailers as well. If there are out to get you, they’ll find a reason. I’ve seen it happen more than once. It baffles me tbh, considering how hard it is to find people for the job. Lot of rotation going on, it’s a mess..

  3. They wanted her gone but could never justify it. That’s a major reason why companies fire people for stupid reasons like this.

  4. LIDL as an employee sucks balls. A friend of mine used to work there and he got bitched around so much. In the end, he was fired because of something as ridiculous as not filling the shelves right.

  5. Bruh, I have eaten an entire pack of donuts that were on the expiry date as a student worker without trouble (not in Lidl though). Really harsh to fire a loyal worker after 19 years for that.

  6. Not assuming anything but this is a bullshit reason to fire somebody.
On the receiving end it might even be a blessing in disguise.

There might be a good reason behind it. But usually people want to fire you and are looking for any excuse.

In my former job I started being harassed by my new boss and suddenly she started asking why I didn’t come on certain days. Always sending a copy of their email to HR. I was never absent but they kept complaining. Until following a heated conversation I started to bring a paper to work everyday and had to ask for it to be signed upon arriving and leaving everyday.

Eventually that charge didn’t hold water and they fired me for being unsuitable for the service I had been running for the last 10 years.

TLDR; I was harassed and under scrutiny for 2 years. I could do nothing good. They were only looking for something to blame me. When they couldn’t charge me with anything as stupid as that. They fired me anyway. For my mental health, I had better been fired from the get go.

  7. Chop her right hand off! That’ll learn her not to steal again from capitalist companies! /s

  8. I worked for 5 years for Colruyt. One time a colleague found a “leeggoedticketje” in the store in the floor, he picked it up and put it in his pants, later on (next day or so) he went shopping in another Colruyt closer to his place and used that ticket there, they found out and fired him immediately, Colruyt said they have a zero tolerance towards theft.

Honestly we were all shocked, guy was good employee, but he was young and naive, considering out issues with enough employees it would definitely have been better ti work on it with him and give him a 2nd chance..

Afterwards they told us that even if you find a “leeggoedticketje” in the streets somewhere, you as a Colruyt employee can not pick it up and use it, as they consider it Colruyt’s property, pretty wild if you ask me…

  9. Ah good old retail
It just depends which store you end up in i used to work for Colruyt People would get fired for stupid things constantly… And then i see others who also work for Colruyt who pull the same shit but it’s ok…
It just depends on the team you end up in.
Something tells me she might had a new Boss who didnt like her

  10. Same thing happened to me. 9 years of (much too) loyal service and I was let go for a ridiculous reason.

I was fired with compensation though so it was even dumber for them. They paid me like 10k to fire me.

  11. I worked at a gas station as a student worker and someone got fired because he forgot to put 5 eurocents in the cash register. But they kept a guy that drank alcohol on his night shift. One night shift he shat himself on the chair at the cash register. They didn’t fire him. They gave him a better job as a manager somewhere else. Hahaha

  12. Translation:

An employee of a Lidl store in Jambes (Namur) has been fired after more than nineteen years of loyal service because of a “serious mistake. So what she had done wrong? “She was not feeling well during work. To regain her strength, she ate a cookie that was overdue,” the socialist trade union said.

The woman received her C4 in mid-March. Despite a medical certificate, the company refused to reconsider its position. The harsh verdict meant that the employee would have to leave without notice and risk not receiving unemployment benefits.

In protest, the store remained closed for hours this morning. Eventually an agreement was reached, but the details are not known. In the meantime, the qualification “serious error” was withdrawn. “We still want the employee to be reintegrated. But if there is an agreement between the parties, we will respect that,” concluded union leader Thomas Lesire.

  13. The store I work at actively encourages employees to take things that can no longer be sold home, in a bid to reduce waste

  14. The lidl fired my ex because she supposedly stole 3 pallets of goods whilst having no driver license, access to the loader, and was just a cashier. based on videofootage that they brought to the interview on a cd that they showed me but couldnt play, I told them the cd wasnt burned based on seeing the bottom and they called the police.
She got fired and the union got us 9 months of pay. I stole the regional m managers back license plate 3 times since then. I would do it more but i hardly drive by their depot anymore.

  15. I’ve worked in retail (mostly fashion) for 20 years. The stories I can tell are maddening.

A lot of employees that HQ wants to get rid of are fired because of theft. At one store people used personal discount for those who lived at their address. We all believed this was okay. We ourselves all did it. Suddenly somebody was fired because of that. “theft”, they said. Discount was only for those united through marriage. We were shocked. I managed 4 stores at that point and we all did it, our manager knew.

Next thing I was called in a meeting because they found pics on Instagram of my sister wearing clothes bought with my discount. My only saving grace was that she had my size and I called her on the spot, in the meeting, asking what her clothing sizes were and if we did or did not share our clothes.

    Fucking idiots.

And that’s only on one experience of many many more.
