Ukraine and US sign minerals deal, marking shift from military to economic support • FRANCE 24
Weeks after diplomatic relations reached rock bottom, negotiators seemed to have struck gold. On a post on social media, Ukraine’s deputy prime minister announced that a deal with the US had finally been signed. Together with the United States, we are creating the fund that will attract global investment in our country. The agreement establishes a reconstruction investment fund with one major condition. The two countries will share profits and royalties from the future sale of Ukrainian minerals and rare earths. Although the US Treasury remained cryptic on the details of the deal, the language underlined the US’s commitment to securing peace in Ukraine despite not explicitly mentioning any US security guarantees. Today’s agreement signals clearly to Russian leadership that the Trump administration is committed to a peace process centered on a free, sovereign, and prosperous Ukraine over the long term. It’s time for this cruel and senseless war to end. Ukraine Spiridenko outlined the key points of the deal on Twitter. Overall, it seems a more favorable deal for Ukraine than its last iterations. Siridenko called it a 50/50 partnership. Ukraine has not given up any sovereignty and maintains full ownership and control over its resources. Is the Ukrainian state that determines where and what to extract. For the first decade, all profits generated by the fund will be reinvested in Ukraine. Crucially, the deal does not set up any Ukrainian debt obligations. Debt had been one of the main points of tension during negotiations. In earlier stages of discussions, many feared the deal would disrupt Ukraine’s membership bids to the EU. Siridenko confirmed that it does not conflict with any of Ukraine’s international obligations.
The US and Ukraine signed a minerals agreement Wednesday, marking a renewed commitment to Kyiv post-military aid, the Trump administration said. Ukraine secured key terms after lengthy talks, including full sovereignty over its rare earths, which are critical for new technologies and largely untapped. Emily Boyle reports.

A contract with the devil in times of a bear attack!
We are watching a country commit suicide, first with its people and then with its natural resources. How sad. Ukraine is first divided and then destroyed by imperialists who are trying to pass it off as a so-called "independent" state.
It's kind of funny making these kind of useless deals in the midst of the war when Ukraine is on the verge of collapsing. The US might as well made a deal with Russia instead.
Russia won the war. Remember
Mafia deal
Russia going to keep going
Trump: couldn’t get it done without your help, Mr Putin.
This benefits Ukraine more than the US.
Thanks for making peace for better world
