Klemen held a media conference with RTV SLO ahead of his journey to Basel.
Slovenia’s Eurovision 2025 representative, Klemen, held a press conference on Wednesday April 23 to discuss his upcoming performance in Basel, impressions from the pre-parties and the whirlwind after winning EMA.
As a seasoned performer, comedian and former host of several EMA editions, Klemen admitted that experiencing Eurovision as an artist has been somewhat overwhelming and fast-paced.
A week after winning, we already had to go to Switzerland to shoot the postcard. It was actually hard for me to process everything, because I was immediately thrown ‘into the Swiss Alps’.
Klemen revealed that much of the past month has been reserved for rehearsals, particularly to practice the upside-down maneuver from EMA for Basel.
They (EBU) officially confirmed that we can perform the upside-down trick at Eurovision. A month after EMA, when we were recording our performance for Basel, I realised my ability to hang upside down had slightly diminished. I was feeling very dizzy. Before EMA, we practiced the trick daily so my body could adapt. Now, to regain the skill, I practice the move daily against a wall.
Joined at the press conference by his wife Mojca Fatur, Klemen explained that the performance will reflect the emotional collapse he felt upon receiving the devastating news. He revealed that he will hang from the ceiling of the St. Jakobshalle Arena for about 30 seconds during his performance, which will focus on Mojca’s story.
In our performance, we will try to make it very clear that the song is about a particular person who has overcome illness.
Klemen also shared his impressions from the Eurovision pre-parties in Amsterdam, London and Madrid, where he received first audience feedback.
Sometimes, especially when you look at the odds, it feels like all of this is for nothing. But then people come up to you, share their stories and tell you how deeply the song touches them. It’s important for me to know the song resonates with the audience ahead of Eurovision.
Klemen’s inspiration for the song, Mojca, closed the press conference by expressing support for her husband on Eurovision journey.
I think it’s beautiful when a song can ignite hope, inner strength and faith. That’s why it’s so important for us to tell the story together in Basel.
Klemen won the right to represent Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 after winning EMA 2025. He will perform 3rd in the first semi-final on May 13 with his entry “How Much Time Do We Have Left”.
