The merciless Russian attacks terrorize not only people. Animals don’t understand what is happening, and it is impossible to explain to them what war is. They suffer just as much as people do.
Fuck this war and Russia. Putin is worse than anything I can put into words. There’s no word for how awful Putin is.

Those that don’t get that simply make the world a shittier place.
Many dogs have certain phobias and high sensitivity to loud sounds, and they can behave very randomly when frightened. Those dogs are very impacted by this damn war in places like Kharkiv and Kherson.

All these humans. Animals. Communities. Culture. All under siege for centuries, really. But these last 3+ years have gone so fast I can’t believe everyone and every animal is still being traumatized by the regime.
If it was in Russia they would’ve skinned the dog alive, ate the meat and made a hat out of the fur.
One of the many facets of the impressive Ukrainians that I’ve come to learn and admire over the course of this terrible war is their apparent and seemingly universal regard and love of animals. My brother, who did volunteer work there from 2022-24, shared stories of going to villages to deliver food aid and gear, and seeing how “strays” belonged to the collective, were fed and cared for even during such plight. It speaks volumes of the character to be found there.
I wish you all great success, and may you one day soon live in a good peace.
