  1. Can anyone who knows politics tell me if it’s good or bad when your government starts routinely lying about easily verifiable facts?

  2. So we just take his word on this? No investigation? Just his “belief”?

  3. Next week: Irish air space was used to transport weapons to Israel

  4. The standard of political leaders is surely at its lowest ever ebb? This guy is so, so far out of his depth it’s ridiculous. He makes Varadkar look statesmanlike.

  5. Just like he doesn’t believe the housing figures before the election were misleading.

  6. Shannon is a US military stopover. Irish neutrality is a joke.

  7. The same people moaning about Harris letting this happen moan about the “far right” giving out about the open borders him and his party created. A paradox if you will

  8. “Those who look for convictions in politicians are looking for love in the wrong places” – Christopher Hitchens

  9. It’s not a question of belief. It either is or it isn’t. If he’s not able to say it isn’t, then it is.

  10. US military planes have been refuelling at Shannon then on to Tel Aviv

  11. Sure if he doesn’t believe it then it must not have happened

  12. The cunt knows that he is lying, that’s why he was so selective and specific about the language he used. Saying he doesn’t believe is nowhere near the same as him categorically saying that no weapons for Israel are transferring through Irish airspace.

In the event that it is later discovered that weapons are being transported through Irish airspace because leaks or whatnot he can just shrug his shoulders and say his beliefs were wrong and lessons were learned or some such bullshit.

Had he categorically previously denied it, there would have to be some type of inquiry.

  13. If only we were able to exercise any kind of effective control over our airspace.

  14. see he could’ve said “we can’t stop israel from doing that they haven’t asked for permission and what they’re doing is illegal” and instead he said “nuh uh” which, even if he isn’t knowingly let israel transport weapons through irish airspace it implies that he is since we know it’s happening.

  15. I remember months ago reading an article that quoted him saying that he’ll have follow up on Shannon, they could barely pretend to care

  16. Conveniently opening the door for increased military expenditure and movement away from neutrality?

  17. Yea but this guy has spent most of his adult life buying suits and saying yes to somebody

  18. I’ll just leave this here…

Human rights abuses associated with CIA secret detention and extraordinary rendition operations:

Ireland covertly allowed the CIA to transport prisoners through its airspace and in some instances allowed the CIA to use airports. The majority of prisoners were being transferred to countries such as Syria, Egypt or Jordan where torture methods could be used without consequence. The evidence against Ireland was based on reports from the European Parliament, the Council of Europe and the United Nations who had earlier expressed concern about stopovers by CIA-operated aircrafts at Irish airports, mainly Shannon.

  19. The Zionist pay check must of just got cleared for a lot of the liberals in Ireland this week. We need a revolution.

  20. >”When planes fly well above our skies, the ability of Ireland on its own to know exactly what goes through Irish airspace is a real challenge”

This is just a deflection if there was no mention of planes landing at Shannon specifically, which is the issue.

All this highlights is our long-standing relationship in which we kowtow to the US, whatever their actions. Nothing new.

Very surprised if they progress and implement the Occupied Territories Bill as it goes against the grain of the EU powers, which we are also supplicant to.

  21. You have to appreciate his absolute contempt for the public, and journalism in Ireland when he comes out with this bullshit.

  22. Okay then, let’s take a look inside those planes in Shannon, if there’s no weapons it shouldn’t be a problem right?

  23. he doesn’t believe it’s been used to transport weapons to Israel ……. idfc what that man believes dude just properly investigate if this happened and report the findings

  24. This is such a silly argument. But muh airspace…..

No one can prevent or police air space unless you have a fighter squadron.

Even at that the squadron would only intercept dangerous aircraft, it can’t exactly pull over a cargo plane for no good reason.
