“Labour”
Does things the working class never wanted, because none of them are working class
Fiddling with the circuses while the bread goes moldy.
Smart.
You’d think the government would have more pressing concerns that interfering in a private business
Ridiculous that this isn’t already banned. Nobody in this country wants this, and it would completely screw over English fans. Football clubs are cultural institutions, not entertainment franchises.
The comments on this post make me realise why I lost faith in this sub, I can’t believe half these people are real.
There is a reason why the US is miles ahead of Britain.
The NFL are increasing the number of games they play abroad.
I’ll take a cold, rainy night in Stoke over a hot one in Riyadh any day of the week.
If you’ll pardon the pun, this is an open goal for Labour. Ban games abroad and extend this ban to all cup games as well – you can bet Mohammed Bin Salman would gladly pay an inordinate sum to host the Community Shield as a salami slice tactic. Government should be making it clear to any billionaires/governments looking to invest that they are buying a part of English/British heritage and need to respect it as such.
Out of all the priorities for the government, this should not be anywhere near the top.
Why is the the government getting involves with this. If the FA or whomever wants to arrange games overseas then they can. It’s up to the customers to complain etc and take their business elsewhere.
Might have been best to announce this 6 months ago
Now what will the excuse to not broadcast all the games? You can’t watch on TV and you won’t be able to go to the stadium. Just book a flight to Tokyo to see Brighton vs Wolves for £1000?
They get smashed in elections. These are their policies….
I lost interest in football years ago. Its just a business now, and clubs will find anyway possible to fleece fans.
Now ban the shitty 12:30 KO’s on a Saturday in the EFL!
Seems like a quick and easy win, unless of course they’re being lobbied by teams with offers of free tickets etc.
This could end up in a fight between FIFA and the UK government. FIFA doesn’t like it when politicians step on its turf.
