‘The Equalizer’ Starring Queen Latifah Canceled By CBS After 5 Seasons

1. That’s a good run. Good for them.

2. TIL There was an Equalizer series with Queen Latifah

3. The most unrealistic show on the planet. Even Bosch couldn’t save that crap.

4. Lasted longer than I expected. Five seasons is pretty commendable for a show

6. Oh, Queen Latifah is in it? Time for a binge watch, I guess.

7. I remember when the trailer for the show first came out and Queen Latifah was kicking in a door and it was like an old lady with hip troubles. So, based on that, five seasons is a great run.

8. Finally. Now, I love QL and the first season or two of this wasn’t too bad. And then it got crazy and I stopped. Husband was watching it and so I did a few times w him and I just shook my head and told him to watch better TV.

   She will be in another something before you know it.

10. Don’t worry, CBS will replace it with ten more detective shows; three of them eventually getting one-season Paramount Plus spinoffs

11. 5 seasons is actually a great symmetry for a show.

    I can’t be authoritative on that but I feel like it’s sort of the perfect amount of time to tell a longer form story.

    If you’re not going to be a soap (the structure of a soap is to go forever, but it works because you’re checking in on characters and not overall plot), I think 5 seasons works very well.

    Supernatural was built this way and — no shade to the show and they had some great episodes in later seasons — it was obviously supposed to be five seasons.

    Fringe worked very well. The Wire, of course. Prison Break. Some really great shows work this way.

    Anyway it’s all to say: chin up, Equalizer fans & folk! You’re in good company.

12. There were some sus episodes but I’m gonna miss ‘em.

A 60 year old woman running around beating the stuffing out of assassins and terrorist with the help of her friends in their underground lair full of half a billion dollars worth of spy tech and then making it home just in time to have dinner with her daughter and mother was a believable concept…
