Do you agree or disagree with this? Would you say the whole of Europe might face similar circumstances?

It’s certainly possible. And all of europe will face the same problems. So yes, but i’m not an expert, so my word is just meaningless in this discussion.
I think people are less likely to buy luxyary goods now, food is expensive so it looks ogical the consumer index will go negative. Which emans we buy less stuff, they sell less and they make less profit.
Technical recession (I.e. decline in GDP for 2 consecutive quarters) I can see happening, an actual prolonged recession, not yet. We’re still sitting on a ton of savings and hiring has rarely been better.
Well, it’s VOKA – the association of employers and entrepreneurs – who makes this statement. There’s a due amount of pearl clutching involved. (Same if it were the unions warning about job losses or wage levels)
At this point, it’s anyone’s guess where economies will be by this time next year. There’s too much geopolitical and macroeconomic uncertainty. The war is another stone thrown into the pond while it was still settling from that last stone, the pandemic.
It’s not just Belgian governments, but every nation that needs to figure out how to move forward in terms of social and economic policies.
