Marko Bošnjak has revealed new details about his Eurovision 2025 performance in Basel.
Croatia’s representative, Marko Bošnjak, appeared on HRT’s “Kod nas doma” show, where he discussed his preparations for the contest. In addition to revealing some changes to his staging, the Dora 2025 winner shared his thoughts on betting odds and reflected on his experience at the Eurovision pre-parties.
All three pre-parties were an amazing experience. I have to say that Madrid had the wildest and most loyal Eurovision fans. But in Amsterdam and London, you could really see that people abroad see us as true Eurovision stars. Once you become part of the Eurovision family, it can last forever. I hope those people remain part of my fandom, and that I’ll get to share more of my music with them.
Marko admitted that the journey since winning Dora has been challenging and at times, exhausting— but emphasized he remains optimistic about his Eurovision experience.
I believe everything happens at the right time and for the right reason. The universe always has something in store for you and I think Eurovision will be an incredible experience. I have a phenomenal team that supports me, knows what it’s doing, and one I can trust.
Fully aware of his staging shortcomings at Dora, Marko confirmed that his Eurovision performance has been completely revamped.
We will have entirely new outfits. The LED screen visuals are new, and the stage prop is no longer a kitchen—or anything that resembles one. We have two more rehearsals before the semi-final to perfect everything, but I firmly believe we will qualify for the final.
Despite Croatia currently sitting at the bottom of the betting odds, Marko sees this as a motivation, not a setback.
Honestly, I believe it’s great to be in that position. It gives you a chance to surprise people and prove that we are capable of much more than expected. Every year there’s a “dark horse” that qualifies, and I believe we can be that dark horse this year.
While experiencing the tight schedule, pressures of continuous social media presence, and the stakes of performing live for millions of viewers, Marko doesn’t see Eurovision as a burden, but rather a launchpad for his music career.
Of course, I’d love to qualify for the final and achieve a strong result. But beyond the placement, I want to share my music with Europe and present myself to people who might otherwise never discover what I do. Ultimately, I want to go on a summer tour, release an album, and continue my musical journey. Eurovision is a beautiful starting platform, but also a motivation for everything that comes after.
Marko won Dora 2025 and earned the right to represent Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025. He will perform 14th in the first semi-final on May 13 with his entry “Poison Cake”.

Croatia debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993. They were one of three countries to debut in the contest that year. Croatia’s best result came in 2024 when Baby Lasgana finished 2nd in Malmö. He performed the song “Rim Tim Tagi Dim” which scored a total of 547 points, including 12 points from the juries in Cyprus and Serbia, and 9 sets of 12 points from the public vote. Croatia returned to the contest in 2016 having withdrawn after the 2013 contest due to a string of poor results and financial difficulties.
