  1. The spy agencies have the ability to expose what Trump is up to.

  2. All the governments that the agency have toppled over the years, and *this* is the one they choose to leave alone?

  3. Lack of spies = less eyes on Russian interference. The man is wholly owned by Putin but is too stupid and arrogant to see through his manipulative techniques.

  4. I am sure AI can replace the spy. Just like how we can use AI for park rangers.

  5. This country so fucked. Everything being done right now is to weaken america. Why? I really don’t know, but add it all up, what of any of these decisions is making america “great” again?

  6. Well I am sure he thinks there is no need to have anyone watching the Russians and Putin, they are ‘good friends’…

  7. Trump does not want our nation to be safe and strong. He just wants no oversight or laws to control how international autocrats and mega-billionaires dominate everything.

  8. Wants to keep us dumb to what Russian is doing. Who else would benefit from this? Not the USA.

  9. Ah yes, I am sure there will be no negative consequences to making hundreds of people whose entire job was espionage and planning the overthrow of governments free agents.

  10. I took a quick second to Google, “What is the US government’s biggest responsibility?”

    The answer from AI:

    > The US government’s biggest responsibility is ensuring the welfare and security of its citizens, as outlined in the Preamble of the US Constitution. This includes protecting national security, maintaining order, and promoting the general welfare. This encompasses a broad range of functions, from defending the nation against threats to providing essential services like infrastructure and social programs.

Everything Trump does is in service to the exact opposite.

  11. Our foreign adversaries are having a field day with this regime.

  12. In my view, cutting 1,200 jobs from the CIA isn’t just some random belt-tightening. This is part of a pattern with Trump that’s been going on for decades and looks more and more like he’s acting in the interests of Russia, not the U.S.

People forget that Trump’s connections to Russia go way back—to the late ’80s when the Soviets first started trying to cultivate him, e.g., his assigned code name: Krasnov. Since then, he’s had shady business ties with Russian oligarchs, tons of cash from questionable sources – many connected to the Russian mob – and he’s parroted Kremlin talking points for decades (like bashing NATO and supporting Putin publicly).

Now in his second term, Trump’s pushing to gut U.S. intelligence agencies, especially the CIA. That’s not just weakening the “deep state”—it’s dismantling one of the main institutions that keeps tabs on foreign adversaries like Russia. It sure as hell looks like he’s helping Putin by kneecapping the very agencies designed to protect U.S. national security.

At some point, it stops looking like coincidence and starts looking like what it probably is: the slow-motion sabotage of America’s intel community by someone who’s been compromised for a long time. Whether you call it treason or just a decades-long con, the result is the same—Putin wins, and the U.S. loses.

  13. Bobby Jr hasn’t explained to Donnie what happened to his dad and uncle when they went after the CIA, has he?

  14. To be fair, he reduced the CIA workforce when he sold confidential information from his MaraLago bathroom.

It makes me wonder, how many stars on the CIA memorial wall are attributed to him selling out our spies?

  15. You don’t need spies when you’ve joined the enemy.

But you do need more “domestic” enforcement.

  16. I keep hoping that there are still people in the hidden corners of these agencies keeping an eye on things.

  17. As has been said by others, whether he is or isn’t a Russian asset, you would never know the difference.

  18. The US government, intelligence services, defence, and legal system is being torn apart by a Russian asset.

  19. He’ll probably just give Russia a list of 1,200 agents and let them “take care” of them

  20. I don’t know if Trump is a Russian asset but he sure does a lot of things a Russian asset would do.

  21. people are talking about Russia like that’s what Putin wants but the worst IMO is weakening CIA also weaks the intelligence around the world, these agencies of american allies like british they need to share informations about someone, or some terrorist group, or some country like Iran, Russia or China. So, will be bad for american allies too.

  22. Trump is a major threat to national security. He is deliberately sabotaging US intelligence and US alliances.

  23. Right wing commentator Charles Krauthammer coined what he called the Unipolar Moment. That is where the US had no real geopolitical rival. We could call the shots. Maintaining it and exploiting it was the entire basis for the Bush Administration. Between that and free markets, that was the Republican platform.
In a few short months, Trump as flushed all that down the toilet. He has ruined America on the global stage politically and economically and has given China the keys to the world.

  24. And they’re requesting over 1.1T in defense funds in the budget. Wonder where that money is really going when they are doing everything to dismantle the countries’ defenses.

  25. This man wants to go to war with Canada, Denmark, and Mexico. I would like to point out that wars are won through spying.

You can have the best technological and Weaponized advantages in the world. Hell, you could even have the best and highly motivated assault group known to Mann, but they will still fail if they don’t know what they’re up against. Just because we have the best space program for warfare ever known to mankind does not mean that we will win our next engagement.

Remember, this is the same dumbass that surrendered to a terrorist organization that literally in turn, took over an entire country. Every failure of his administration rests at the feet of him, not being intelligent enough to recognize that America’s prominence on the world stage was mostly due to the CIA, the FBI, and in a larger part, the department of homeland security.

We would not have known what to do unless we had people in the appropriate positions around the world so we could counter what’s coming because we saw it before they could enact it.

We are about to see terrorism in the United States on a level that the world will gawk at. There will be craters in the cities and towns across this country. And it won’t even be from bombs that have been dropped. It will have been from bombs that were planted.

The reason why we’ve enjoyed next to no terrorism in this country minus a few pretty big things, was because of our spine network and how we had them embedded in places that mattered. When we take those spies away, this is gonna get really hard for every day normal Americans.

  26. Even if you completely eliminated every job in the federal government, you’d only save us 4% of the budget. This is ridiculous

  27. How open would the UK, China, and Canada be to employing former CIA agents? Or even states like Cali taking them in bulk. People keep worrying about a hostile fascist takeover but the US is too large to occupy and subdue.

No, the biggest thing is we’re going to fracture. Heavily.

We’re the most powerful military and have the sophisticated intelligence apparatus in the world, but what does it matter if who remains are inept in using them?

It’s going to be funny when if year from now every weird thing gets leaked and every big nation can hack our shit and out maneuver us economically, AI, and various other ways.

Like if there is another Pandemic or 9/11 the response federally will be abysmal. Blue states will largely be more organized and have better relations with our former allies and their own information networks.

  28. Firing the people who are experts in coups?

Bold move, let’s see how it works out.

  29. This is great news… for Putin and other vile actors throughout the world.

  30. It’s amazing that all his decisions benefit Russia and hurt us.

  31. Trump is 1000% a Russian asset. Every single action this man takes is to destroy America.

  32. I remember during Trump’s first term, he asked for a list of spies that were in Russia. Suddenly, those associated with the CIA in Russia showed up dead. I say there’s no coincidence in what happened and it’s probable that this will happen again under his watch.

  33. I mean if a foreign asset wanted to destroy the us, what would they be doing differently than the current admin?

  34. The reason why this is happening is because someone else in the Trump regime has nefarious plans. The reason why Trump is going along with it, however, is because he’s an senile old man and that nefarious person is whispering in his ear about how the intelligence community “treated him very badly” during his first term and should be reduced in the name of efficiency (revenge).
