60 Minutes calls out its OWN parent company & Trump in shock move

In tonight’s last minute, a note on Bill Owens, who until this past week was executive producer of 60 Minutes. He was our boss. Bill was with CBS News nearly 40 years, 26 years at 60 Minutes. He covered the world, covered combat, the White House. His was a quest to open minds, not close them. If you’ve ever worked hard for a boss because you admired him, then you understand what we’ve enjoyed here. Bill resigned Tuesday. It was hard on him and hard on us. But he did it for us and you. Stories we pursued for 57 years are often controversial. Lately, the Israel Gaza war and the Trump administration. Bill made sure they were accurate and fair. He was tough that way. But our parent company, Paramount, is trying to complete a merger. The Trump administration must approve it. Paramount began to supervise our content in new ways. None of our stories has been blocked, but Bill felt he lost the independence that honest journalism requires. No one here is happy about it. But in resigning, Bill proved one thing. He was the right person to lead 60 Minutes all along.

  1. money, money, money. Paramount doesn't want to lose any so they lose viewers, ratings, advertisements instead. 60 minutes will be another loss coming soon to honest and trustworthy news sources.

  2. When you create false stories, after a time you are going to get called on it. The Harris debacle that 60 Minutes created was the final straw.

  7. We all see the facsism. The gaslighting no longer works and all they've done is demoralize the country. That makes it much easier for them to take control and enforce authoritarian agenda.
    There will not be a free and fair election again in the USA. Trump and MAGA Congress would lose in an unprecedented landslide if free and fair elections were held today. The $4.5 trillion tax cut of which 45% goes to the top 5% of income earners, and more rhan $1 trillion goes to the top 1%, is not popular in the face of cuts to the government programs that were there for everyone.
    Social Security and Medicare have been decimated to make the obscenely wealthy more money they absolutely dont need. The tax cuts cost over $30,000 per family. There are no measures in the tax bill to help working class families.

    The "no taxes on tips and overtime" isnt included in the bill the MAGA legislators are pushing through congress. It was more election promise lies. The "concept of an idea" for medical insurance overhaul is not gojng to happen. It was a lie. The "I'll bring prices down on day one" clearly hasn't happened in 3 month's. The "I can end the wars in one day", also, a joke and election lie.
    Why did MAGA think after 30,000+ verifiable lies in his first administration, did any voter think, or expect anything different?
    The idiocy is truly baffling.

  9. In Israels Gaza you get selectively shot if you are a reporter, but it is ignored.
    Shireen, an AMERICAN Palestinian reporting for Al Jazeera was executed by a sniper in the West Bank by a head shot behind the ear under her helmet and above her well marked PRESS flack jacket.
    Her.funeral was desecrated by the IDF trying to steal her coffin and cast it to the ground.
    And not a word from America in her support

  14. Anybody that makes and supports fake news and restricts truth is not a leader. It happens all over the world. It's just that we never thought strong large countries that were democratic would do this. We know what is true. We know some know that the more times you repeat a statement that uneducated people will believe it. True information is being squashed. Will PBS be around anymore? Which gov't is trying to close it?
