UK Taxi driver shortage prompts public safety fears

  1. >A backlog in costly licensing and registration of vehicles, as well as criminal and medical checks for drivers, have led to what the LPHCA have called “a perfect storm”.

If this is the problem then surely the solution is to provide adequate resources to clear the backlog? Reducing the cost of the licences may encourage more to apply for the but won’t do anything about the backlog except to make it bigger.

Reducing checks and tests would reduce the backlog but threatens customer safety and undermines those taxi drivers who work in the industry and meet existing standards.

  2. Caused by Covid. Taxi drivers during the lockdowns retrained in different jobs and never went back to their taxi once the lockdowns were all over. I’m sure this is the same all across Europe, people retraining during Covid was extremely common.

  3. If they’re shortht then i’d like to practisce. ” “ello luv, oh are me my sunshine? Fishfingers!? ‘Ur Oooour frencies we’re fighting them on the beaches!” Give us here lass! That mr birdseyes smell! etc….

  4. It’s weird because according to my research UK cab costumers are horny attractive women who always have sex with the driver.

Maybe it’s hard to have sex 20 times a day and that’s why they quit?
