You did exactly what Canada just did. So proud of Australia!!! 🇦🇺 good job from 🇨🇦
First Pierre Poilievre in Canada, now Peter Dutton in Australia is the second conservative opposition leader to get kicked out of his seat. All these Trump wannabes are getting wrecked at the polls.
Also, here’s a fun fact: Peter Dutton has made history as the first Opposition leader to lose his seat in a federal election in Australia.
Good. Let all appeasers know, this is your fate
Being remotely associated with Trump or his policies is toxic these days.
Not that I have any sympathy for politicians, but at least the less decent ones are being kicked out or prevented from coming to power.
MAGA is doing a great job for the rest of the world, unfortunately at the expense of the Americans.
United States took the bullet for every other country seeing what could happen if maga mentality took over. Happy for them atleast
Why does he look like a Simpsons character?
It’s not just being an American endorsed by the Orange Thing that will destroy you these days. It’s being aligned with him, even if you’re from another country. When the Orange Thing started with his threats towards Canada, PP tried to say he wasn’t MAGA, and failed miserably.
Is there any sense of a local reason for this? Poilievre was promising DOGE like austerity from a suburb of Ottawa full of federal civil servants. Was Dutton more a victim of just a general turn to Labor over antiTrump sentiment in a competitive seat with a ranked voting system? (Still quite funny and all either way)
Baldemort can’t stop winning
He got Poilievred! 🤣
🇨🇦🤜🤛🇦🇺
Who knew the effect Trump had on other countries and who they vote for, not the effect he was hoping for however.
It wasn’t a shock. He abandoned his own electorate while they were flooded to hang out with billionaires. He’s also been nationally hated since they made him leader because of his controversial actions as our immigration Minister under the previous prime minister.
Edit. I should note those floods were about a month ago, so very fresh in the mind of his people.
Omg stop copying us Canadians!
(Pls continue copying us Canadians)
No shock for me
It wasn’t a shock. Polls have been pretty clear for weeks that Australia didn’t want this Temu Trump as Prime Minister.
What was a shock was how badly he lost. He’s lost his own seat and his party has been decimated.

Everything Trump touches dies.
good job australia – from the entire sane rest of the planet
Unfortunately we saw a swing to the right here in the UK by-election with several seats going to Reform, headed by Trump wannabe and grinning tool, Nigel Farage, essentially filling a vacuum left by 14 years of Conservative leadership. Reform are to the Conservatives, what MAGA are to the old school Republicans.
We don’t do MAGA well (thank god)
Glory to australians!
In Canada and Australia: When your breath smells like tangerine semen, people would rather you not be around.
Talk Trump Get Thumped.
I guess MAGA does not work past the US. Because everyone else sees the writing on the wall and is like: “nope!” Meanwhile MAGA idiots in the US: “oh we see you and those woke idiots won’t let you be great.” Most normal people: “seriously just shut up.”
A shock only to pollsters, billionaires and Rupert Murdoch.
Dutton has been putrid reputationally for his entire political career.
And he lost to a female disability advocate, that’s like adding insult to injury haha. Well done Australia
Canucks and Aussies celebrate M🍁GA and M🦘GA going tits up.
Obviously Joe Bidens fault.
Get fucked dutt plug you prick
As an American, I am both thrilled for you all and jealous. Good job, Australia!!
>shock vote defeat
Reuters, right? lol to any aussie that knows our voting is compulsory, this isn’t a shock. If you take out the ‘extremist’ playbook of american political theatre, you get laughed off the stage by moderate voters.
It works in america because you only get votes via your fanclub; the moderates don’t bother to show up at the polling booth
This election reflected a strong consolidation around Labor, suggesting Australians prioritised stability and pragmatism over ideological experimentation. Amid global uncertainty, cost-of-living pressures, and climate anxiety, voters seemed to lean into what felt safer and more familiar—centre-left governance—over fringe or idealistic alternatives. It’s a classic case of retreating to the middle when things feel volatile.
The consequences? Let’s wait and see. Not having more independents or smaller parties isn’t always a bad thing. The fact that the greens lost seats and some parties that were strong in the last election got trampled (like the legalise weed party) said a lot.
Dude got owned
Fptp is the best for this reason
Shocker that the world sees what Trump is doing and thinks – nah, we don’t really want that here.
