Seattle Kraken forward Eeli Tolvanen will head to Sweden to represent Team Finland at the 2025 IIHF Men’s World Championship.

The 26-year-old has previously represented Finland at the World Championships just once, but will likely be using the tournament to showcase why he should be on the Olympic Team in 2026.

Throughout his junior career, Tolvanen was a standout performer at the U-17s, U-18s and the World Juniors. He also played in the 2018 Olympics before he made his NHL debut, scoring three goals and nine points in five games, leading his team and ranking second among all participants in points.

Tolvanen’s 2024-25 campaign was filled with ups and downs. The season started very slowly for the 2017 30th overall pick, but as the season progressed, he began to find his game, setting a career-high of 23 goals.

NHLers joining Tolvanen on Finland’s roster include Juuse Saros, Justus Annunen, Joona Koppanen and Juuso Pärssinen.

Tolvanen is now the sixth Kraken player committed to a World Championship roster, joining a list composed of Adam Larsson (Sweden), Brandon Montour (Canada), Ryker Evans (Canada), Matty Beniers (USA) and Joey Daccord (USA).

The World Championship begins on May 9 in Stockholm, Sweden.
