1. I understand the purpose of the office of constitutional protection. It is to ensure that no one can dismantle democracy from within. But while it’s another embarrassing interference from the USA into the domestic politics of (former) allies and friends, they are not completely wrong to suggest there is something dangerous going on when the state has officials spying on elected politicians who wish to use democratic powers to change the constitution. The same constitution that gives power to the spies.

   It’s like there’s an official Germany that is inaccessible to change that has one idea of what Germany must be, and will fight anyone , even those using the law, that wishes to change its mandate.

   It sets up quite an explosive situation if the afd ever get real power.

2. Kinda wild how separated from reality you need to be when Germany, who has very strong historical reasons to keep an eye out for this sort of thing, says that a group is getting too nazi-like and your response is to call them liars.
