18,000 pesos for 4 pieces of steak in Argentina. Another way to look at it: 5% of median monthly wage. This in a country that’s the fourth largest producer of beef in the world. Sad.

  1. That’s some expensive meat!!!!! ~$25 per steak.

This must be part of the Save the cows / save the planet strategy 🤣

  2. Not sure I would describe 1.9 lbs of steak as “four pieces.”

  3. 2 pounds of steak for roughly $15? Am I reading this right and did I do my conversion correctly? If so, that is VERY affordable. That’s cheaper than you’d get here in the US.

  4. Probably the same problem we have in Costa Rica. The vendors know they can export it for x and refuse to sell to their own countrymen at a lower price.

  5. If I am right that translates to $15.00 US.
I was looking at $15.00 for one of those in the US years ago when I decided to pass.

  6. To convert that to freedom units that the equivalent of the average American paying $246 for those steaks.

5% of the US average monthly income of $4,935 comes out to about $246.

Edit: It’s closer to 2-3% of the average income for Argentina. Still comes out to $61 a pound in freedom Bucks.

  7. Wait but I thought Milei was gonna slash prices with his giant chainsaw 🤡, people are eating up what the ultra right are saying, without question, and then the average citizen suffers the consequences. Just like with trumps tarrifs, us mortals are gonna pay more while the rich continue staying rich

  8. thats $21 cad. at that thickness, one of those costs $20 in cad. A pack like that from costco would cost $70-$80

  9. That’s what happens when a country tries capitalism. High prices, people starve to death, capitalists celebrate the deaths as a win for capitalism.

  10. Dropping $15 on a steak in Argentina is like blowing $246 on one here, oh Lordy!
