Well that’s just bc they’re so awesome and rich and putting rich people in charge is also awesome /s

  2. What many of these guys (and they are all guys) are doing is selling something. ***Always***. And what they’re selling to the public is a fantasy. A tech fantasy. But, IMO, don’t believe a word of it. Because they don’t. They are building a moat; financially, politically, etc. for themselves. Because they are expecting the worst. And they have been for a while.

If some of the chatter is to be believed that’s floated around in the climate community for well over a decade, Peter Thiel’s been climate doomsday prepping all the way back to 2011 with his moves to [secure New Zealand citizenship](https://jhmarlin.com/peter-thiel-and-his-journey-to-new-zealand-residency-citizenship/). Same with [Steve Wozniak in Australia in 2012](https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2014/12/steve-wozniak-on-track-to-become-australian-citizen/). Likely in the belief that Southern Hemisphere warming will be moderated by the dominance of the oceans on this half of the globe. And much of this was talked about in climate circles about a decade before Douglas Rushkoff published the *[Survival of the Richest: Escape Fantasies of the Tech Billionaires](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_Rushkoff#Wealth_and_power)* in 2022.

I think many of these guys have been expecting full-blown cataclysmic climate breakdown for a while. But Earth, moves at its own pace. And by some appearances it seems there are those growing impatient with this; so they’re trying to speed up the process on the political end of things.

If they can’t get the full-blown cataclysmic climate breakdown they were counting on to happen on schedule, at least they can get something akin to that politically. To get the ball rolling.

    Edit: grammar.

  3. “He says he wants a million people living on Mars by the year 2050 in a self-sufficient colony” 🤣🤣🤣… And the image of Musk’s “successful launches” of Starships instantly comes to mind. I’d better not even talk about the actual habitability conditions on Mars. What a shame that man is!

  4. I don’t think the anti-environmental stance of the tech oligarchs is getting enough media coverage. They literally want to destroy the planet, like a chick who has to crack its egg open to be born. They think destroying nature is an acceptable outcome if it means creating a posthuman future. They are either great liars or suffering from fantastical delusions requiring hospitalization. If you take a step back and look at what tescrealism really is and what it says, you would be horrified. They want to destroy not only all of nature but humanity itself.
