  8. Putin started the military operation, yes—but wars don’t begin in a vacuum. Ignoring the role of NATO expansion, the 2014 coup, and 8 years of civil war in Donbas turns a geopolitical crisis into a comic book. You don’t have to justify Russia to recognize that the West played its part—and still does—at the cost of Ukrainian lives.
