Statement from People Before Profit on why they refused to applaud Zelensky.

  1. I might be wrong, but I think the parties Zelenskyy has banned are ones that are pro-Russian.. so the ban kind of makes sense, given that the war is with, um… Russia..

  2. The absolute state of that. Of course the sanctions are bolstering the Putin regime… how did they come up with that?

  3. Imagine if they cared about the ordinary people of Ukraine as much.

You know the ones fleeing their homes.

  4. Bullshit. The Russians are doing fine under the sanctions. Hell when McDonalds pulled out they took over the premises and made them all into a new russian branded chain. Russia has enough resources domestically to only really need minor trade with China and India to get by without losing anything. Theyre not siding with the Russian people. The Russian people are doing fine.

Plenty of reasons to not clap for Zelensky from him outlawing opposition parties to supporting the neo-nazi elements in Ukrainian society. Pick one of those and stick with it dont use a bullshit argument.

  5. PBP were a fucking joke party before. Christ I’ve never seen a bigger bunch of clowns in my life. I remember when one of their candidates and a party member went on Vincent Brown and declared that we should raise the corporation tax, and if Google pulls out we should make our own Google to rival it. Completely detached from reality.

  6. PBP …. publicity before people
Go ….f…..uck yourself . 100,000 Ukarine war victims coming here …you utter gobshite.

  7. I gave PBP and The Greens high preference in my vote for the last election. Had such high hopes. Welp.

  8. Oh wow it would hurt the majority of russian and moskals who, in their majority, actually support this war. God forbid they wouldn’t be able to buy commodities like sugar or buckwheat while the Ukrainian people are getting shelled to death.

    Pricks before people.

  9. If anyone voted PBP, they should be ashamed.

Putin and Brexit advocates dressed up as a socialist party.

Somebody somewhere is getting paid. Not the rank and file though.

    They’re easily led.

  10. Brave stance from them, not sure it will play out well for them in the end. I’ll never vote for them again as a result

  11. I’m trying to see their point. Sure, banning a party is not nice. It silences a group in a way.

But in this context, the parties are Pro Russia, they want Ukraine to be close to Russia or re-integrated into Russia.

    Russia, isn’t democratic.

So is it undemocratic to ban parties who are supporting an undemocratic system?

IMO, no. And right now was not the time to go on about that.

  12. > The left are killing free speech, you can’t say or do anything anymore

    Also

    > Let’s monitor everyone who does or doesn’t clap for a specific speech, because if you don’t clap for a speech you’re a terrible person
