Greece is set to enjoy a distinctly summer-like Sunday, as warm air masses brought by westerly winds send temperatures climbing across much of the country, according to the National Meteorological Service.
Clear skies will dominate, with only a few passing clouds expected over the Ionian Sea and mainland areas. By midday and into the afternoon, some cloud development is expected over central and northern mainland regions, with a chance of localized showers or isolated thunderstorms in the northern highlands.
Temperatures will rise notably, especially in the eastern and southern parts of the country. Daytime highs are forecast to reach 27–28°C across the Ionian Islands and mainland Greece, while the Aegean will see milder conditions ranging from 22–24°C.
In Athens, residents can expect mostly sunny skies with a few clouds later in the day. Temperatures will range from 14 to 28°C. Thessaloniki will also enjoy largely clear conditions, though cloud cover may build over nearby mountains in the afternoon, with temperatures between 12 and 28°C.
