Youth music and performance group Luxicals has written a tribute to their voice coach and mentor Theresia Birngruber, who died unexpectedly in January, aged 43 years old.

Created with producer Roll Rossi, “Our friend in the sky” honours Birngruber’s legacy which Luxicals president Alex Bernard said was “a heartfelt way of saying thank you and goodbye to someone who was dedicated and a positive influence on our community.”

In 2022, Luxicals requested the support of a vocal coach from the Luxembourg Institute for Choir Singers (INECC). From the beginning Birngruber helped with group songs, but was also a mentor, leader and constructive advice, said Bernard.

“She helped with all the productions in the past two years, taking time to advise how to manage a musical group, and the human, organisational and financial skills required,” he said.

Providing feedback on songs written by members of the group, she went above and beyond her role. “I really appreciated her honesty, because it helped me personally to improve. It was never about the money, she was always there,” said Bernard.

Birngruber was a passionate supporter of cultural and social projects, as well as an exceptional voice coach.

Over the years, she dedicated her time to numerous initiatives in her home country Austria and in Luxembourg, including Fondation EME, Luxicals and the All Nations Church.

She studied musical theatre in Vienna, becoming a choir teacher when she came to Luxembourg, often working with people with illnesses such as multiple sclerosis.

Luxicals performed the song at her memorial, and hope it will create a lasting tribute to Birngruber.

“She touched countless lives with her energy, kindness and commitment, with a lasting impact on anyone who had the privilege to work with her,” concluded Bernard.
