Not sure if those groups are exactly the same, are there more than 10 million Brits in Spain?
How many of them are under 2?
I should imagine the Spanish are quite pissed off with us Brits living the and not speaking the lingo, expecting them to just understand us by speaking louder and adding o on to the end of words.
Surely both of these are issues? If you’re living in a different country you should speak the language and try to integrate.
That’s true of someone coming into the UK and for an expat in Spain.
I can barely understand most English peoples grasp of English
1.4% ?
Horrifying.
NO TENGO UNO THINKO CRITICO POR FAVORRRR
I teach in a secondary school and we have about 24 different languages spoken as a “primary language” at home.
Most of the kids who have recently arrived to the UK pick up English really quickly, subsequently, they teach parents/grandparents.
I don’t even know what the parameters of “speak English” are, or where they have got that figure from but I can guarantee that there are way more ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) people in the UK than there are English speakers who know other languages!
Lot of our students from other countries know 2 or 3 different languages fluently.
