  5. Trump is fickle, everyone knows this. But him being fickle also means he’s not totally loyal to Russia, and if Zelensky can keep the money flowing into trump’s pocket, and the ego-boosting praises from western European leaders, then there’s a chance he can keep him on his side.

    Trump forgets that Putin has been around since the days of George W. He has survived the U.S through the administrations of George W Bush, Bill Clinton, Obama, Trump, Biden and will do so with Trump v2. Any russian worth his salt knows that U.S policy today isn’t the same as U.S policy tomorrow and so deals are not possible.

  28. Trump loves to pretend he’s a great deal maker. So by making a deal with Trump, Zelensky has helped trump in a way. To narcissistic men like Trump, that’s meaningful. Zelenskyy makes deals with Trump, Putin doesn’t. It’s a brilliant way to subtly move trump unwittingly to your side. Of course it’s only step one and Russia has decades of working him under their belt, but I’m optimistic this deal plus Putin rejecting every proposal could shift US from unofficially hostile to officially helpful.

    But I’m just some dude who smoked weed way too early on a Sunday morning so wtf do I know.

    I mean, this is one direction we can go in, I guess. Not what was on my bingo card, but whatever. I see Putin letting Trump loose with ease. I also see Putin’s last strategic move with Trump to be releasing the kompromat. The incredibly shady deals that happened when Putin summoned the GOP to Moscow on July 4th a couple years back. Whatever was said in all of his conversations.

    The proverbial shit is going to hit the GOP fan, and there will be calls for blood. I think that will be as bad as it gets. Unless some of those other countries we’ve pissed off decide they want a piece of us, too.

    Still not great but zelenskyy and other european leaders figured out you have a few triggers to control trump. He cares about his pride, he has to look strong all the time, he needs to be the financial winner and you need to make him think it was his own idea all along.

    Still a very fragile thing but better than nothing. Buys at least a bit of time for the Ukraine
