How little Lithuania dragged the EU into its showdown with China

  1. > The United States has already backed Vilnius; last month, Secretary of State Antony Blinken underscored “ironclad U.S. support for Lithuania in the face of attempted coercion from the People’s Republic of China,”

    Based 👍

    > The EU, so far, has been more equivocal. In his recent strategic dialogue with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell defended Lithuania but also took pains to reassure Beijing that the EU was not questioning its “One China” policy.

    Not based 👎

  2. The fact that Washington’s war hawks now have to rely on a tiny state with less than 3 million inhabitants shows how none of the bigger countries is willing to follow the US into another conflict.

  3. Is there a showdown though? The EU hasn’t done or said anything though?. Name a single thing the EU did to back Lithuania.

  4. Following Lithuania’s stance on China, French senators went to Taiwan in order to piss China. That’s how we deal with fragile Winnie the Pooh bootlickers

  5. So to sum up the various parties positions:

Lithuania and Taiwan are friends and helped each other.

China is very unhappy about this.

The USA is happy that China is unhappy.

The EU is unhappy that China is unhappy because there’s an outside chance that china being unhappy could lead to Germany making less money.
