  1. I haven’t read the article but I’m guessing it’s the episode “Home?”

  2. This the one where they pulled the fully amputated incest baby factory from under the bed where they stored her?

  3. Oh, the episode where Scully adorably shushes and herds pigs.

  4. I remember watching this episode originally. and I stopped watching X-files for the year…

  5. Watched it live. Afterwards we just sat there for a while and tried to process. Like wtf, that was just on TV? What did we just see? But it really did its job, after a while it was like holy shit I’m never missing another episode of X-Files. Because, children, there was no seeing Home again if they banned it from TV and it wasn’t in reruns or syndication.

  6. “Home” and I wish I had never watched it. It was about >!An amputee mother kept hostage under the bed so the rest of the family could use her as a sex doll. Of course, the family was a bunch of inbred mutants, which made it even more disgusting.!< Some things just shouldn’t be made …or watched.

  7. My brother was on the set crew for x files for its entire run in Vancouver. He rented the farm gear for this particular show, when the farmer saw the show he said don’t ever come back to rent anything, he was thoroughly disgusted. I watched that show and was also disturbed by it.

  8. Recently watched this episode, what still gets me is the scream from the mother when they pull her out and that she ultimately pulls herself back under the bed. You just felt the trauma, such a well done freaky episode.

  9. I was fine with that episode as a kid. What spooked me was the guy who could control cockroaches.

  10. Karin Konoval, who played the mother, would go on to play Maurice (the orangutan) in the recent Planet of the Apes movies. She’s worked a LOT. (She’s also the doppelgänger twins in the X-Files episode “Plus One.”)

  11. I never watched The X-Files, but heard about this episode years later. I thought, “Oh, how bad could it really be?” and watched it. I was wrong. It was really awful.

  12. Yes, that was a horror episode, I’ll never forget it.

  13. The scene where they beat the sheriff to death with baseball bats while his wife watched from under the bed is burned into my brain.

  14. I remember watching Home as a kid because the beginning part of burying the baby alive shocked me so much. I was already freaking out halfway through the episode so I changed the channel and never got to where they discovered the mother part. Thank god because that would have given me nightmares for weeks. Finally watched the whole episode when I was binge watching the series and had already been warned about it. Still a crazy freakin episode.

  15. I remember watching it when it first came out 😵‍💫

  16. Didn’t even need to read the article to know it was “home”

  17. I remember tucking in with to my favorite crappy instant cappuccino to watch it live in early fall. I was thoroughly shell shocked after seeing it, but the crooning 50s music when the brothers went to the Sheriff’s house really haunted me.

  18. What season/episode? I’m currently watching The X Files and just started season 2

  19. I remember watching this episode with my dad and sister the night it came out. I was WAY too young and it fucked me up for a week 😆 I saw a lot of wild shit back then. Predictor, The Thing, Kids In The Hall, Alien, Robocop. My parents are divorced so the weekends with my dad movie nights would be whatever he felt like and then would say “dont tell your mother” 🤣

  20. I remember being on the message boards back then and a bunch of us were like “Oh, yeah, we got a family like that in our town.” And that absolutely horrified people not from rural areas.

  21. I was in college when it came out and I specifically recorded it on my VCR because it didn’t seem like anything that was on network television.

  22. I remember being excited to skip this episode when I bought the dvds

  23. Imagine if the Coogler reboot has a sequel (they get away at the end)

  24. Is this the one where Mulder and Scully are interviewing a guy near the beginning of the show and the guy says “they grow their own around here if you know what I mean”

  25. I knew from just the title of this post that it could only be the X-Files episode, Home.
