  9. Ok, so this is what I think is happening. They want to show support to Putin, so they announced they would go. But they know that they become total pariahs in the EU if they actually go. Now they’re ‘sick’, they can pretend they’ve never flipflopped and are still pro-Putin, without actually having to show up and get shunned for a long time for showing up with Putin. Their fellow EU governments know this is what is it, and while still hating the dudes for being pro-Putin, they at least appreciate them not giving photo-ops to Putin and so the status quo is maintained. Everybody saves face.

  17. Makes no sense for Ukraine to hit the parade – any other leader they kill will instantly have that country proactively then side with Russia against them.
