1. America is a rogue state with less credibility than Iran or North Korea.

2. Why does Canada have to be the 51st state?

   Couldn’t Trump just offer up America as Canada’s 11th territory? You know, like he offered his mouth to service Putin’s cock?

3. If Trump or any of his team bring up the 51st state crap the PM should just stand up and say “We’re done here”, and then leave.

4. What’s funny is Americans just told a recent poll that they believe Canadians are their best allies. It will be an awkward realization when they realize Canadians no longer have support partner with the USA. It looks like virtually every democracy is choosing the same.

14. Live in Canada. Voted conservative. I do not consider these comments credible as “threats”. Please no one jump down my throat I think the rhetoric is disgusting and I’m glad to see Canadians largely united together around this. These are comments not threats and I do think the distinction matters. The day troops are organizing large exercises close to the border along the border they become legitimate threats.

My general impression of this is that as bumbling as he and his administration seem, they would realize that attempting the annexation of Canada or Greenland, regardless of the means, would be a complete backfiring disaster for everyone involved, if the idea was to do it in a single presidential term.

    The thing i dont like, if anything, is that he’s normalizing these kinds of ideas for future administrations and the American public (even if most wouldn’t approve of it at any point, i think a frog can still be boiled to accept the worst of conditions).

    So I think this could be the start of something that might be executable over a larger timeframe. The bad news to me is that it seems possible, the good news is we have some time, time to prepare, time for other factors to play out that would prevent this from continuing.

27. Were I Canadian given what I have observed about Mark “Big Daddy” Carney (( heard that is his new nickname although he apparently does not like it) I would have no worries. Carney is not a push over. I think Carney has assessed Trump to be an individual of low intellect with a motor mouth so he will cut Trump some slack on his verboseness but in context of actual action Carney will be hard.

Threading the needle on how to very simply explain how the nature of global capitalism means the US had a very good thing going w/r/t accessing Canada’s resources and markets until all this bullshit started, while also flattering this moron’s ego by giving him the credit when he re-litigates the terms of the same CUSMA agreement he signed five years ago… well, thank goodness it’s Carney.
