I’m originally from that tiny, Brexit Island otherwise called “Great” Britain. I’ve lived in Helsinki on and off since 1997. My Finnish wife and I lived in England together for a few years and I got her into baked beans. In fact, she loves the stuff.
I’ve always been curious as to why they are sold in every supermarket here. I have never heard of anyone eating them and everyone I ask looks aghast.
So my question: Who is eating all the baked beans? How are they eating them? What with? How are they served?
I eagerly await your baked beans tales. [Heinz Baked Beans](https://www.ubuy.fi/productimg/?image=aHR0cHM6Ly9tLm1lZGlhLWFtYXpvbi5jb20vaW1hZ2VzL0kvNzFYUWpGdlljV1MuX1NMMTUwMF8uanBn.jpg)

I am eating them. I use them in sauce and stews.
I use them to make wind.
I’m warming them up in the microwave and add them to scrambled eggs for breakfast. Sometimes bacon, too.
I mainly use them in chilis, and back when I was doing kitchen work I remember putting them in a lot of vegetable soups.
I use them occasionally to make english breakfast. But they never taste as good as in England… in a pub, hungover, with a pint.
english breakfast, with eggs, blood sausage or sausage made with groats, bacon and the beeeeeeeeeeeans warmed up in the left over bacon fat
I know some ppl like to make a British breakfast. I love all beans but these are too sweet to my taste. I guess many just add them to meaty pasta sauces and such. I prefer to buy dry beans and soak and cook them myself.
Rice & beanz for a cheap meal 🙂
Almost exclusively when making Chili Con Carne. Ain’t nobody got time for soaking beans.
had beans (and cheese) on toast for tea with the kids. But then again I’m another Brit, living in Finland since 2001
I like all sorts of beans., but I hadn’t eaten much beans before becoming an adult. They are not a part of your typical Finnish cuisine at all.
Stews and sauces to add volume because they’re cheap as heck! The british way of having toast with beans sounds a bit heretic to me but maybe I’ll try it someday.
I heat them up with cheese. Looks strange, tastes strange, I like it
English breakfast, chili sin carne (together with other beans), in tomato soup, in minestrone soup…
I eat a lot of baked beans but rarely those with tomato sauce. I use them as cheap and tasty protein source for any dish. Just had some pasta with olive oil, garlic, tomato and beans 🙂
Chili with minced beef, onion, crushed tomato and beans. I eat it with boiled potatoes. And once it’s in a deep plate in front of me, I mash potatoes with fork and mix it all before eating.
Everyone else in the family will not touch this one.
I use em to make Indian rajma curry, and also with my breakfast, with bacon, hadh browns, eggs and buttered toast
Okay im going to ask a dumb question, but are these the canned version? And you just heat them up in the microwave and then they are eatable? I’m a student and i love baked beans, but i forgot about their existence until i saw this post. Pls help cuz they seem super quick to eat if they just need to be microwaved
When I was student I made “nistipata” macaroni with minced pork and beans. All to wok pan and mix. Cheap and filling
Have you checked the sell-by-dates?
My dumb pleasure is baked beans straight from the can. Cold or warmed.
Usually have this when hangover. Scrambled eggs and these, sometimes with bacon and some bread.
I don’t often eat full English breakfast but beans and toast are quite nice every now and then. The only other time I use baked beans is when I cook Korean army stew (budae jjigae). I know some people will also use them to make chili but I personally prefer using kidney beans for this purpose.
I’ve brought some with me while camping. Simple and easy.
I sometimes also cook the midsummer/juhannus hangover breakfast with baked beans. Bacon, eggs, tomatoes and such, english breakfast-lite if you will.
I eat em with toast n eggs
