1. A stupid thing to say but something an apology rather than resignation should resolve.

2. Its not hard to understand the frustration in Labour ranks that this is all suddenly getting so much attention after people did not seem to give a flying fuck about the Tories dragging their feet and then sitting on the results of the national inquiry for like 4+ years.

3. It’s all good these conservatives raising the concerns if:
   (1) The conservatives weren’t in power for 14 years;

   (2) They didn’t pretty much being ignore a report into it;

   (3) They didn’t just focus on minorities and mentioned the white grooming gangs as well to make it seem less like they have an agenda.

4. That was a rough listen and honestly she probably should resign. If only to stop being a distraction and to avoid Kier having another unnecessary headache when his plate is full.

   Serious governments simply don’t have time for “mistakes” like that. It’s not the kind of thing you say accidentally.

   Quite frankly, I couldn’t give less of a shit what the Tories call for. They spent 14 years defunding everything and selling what was left just to line their mates’ pockets. They have no moral high ground to shout this from.

   And it’s a bit hard to fault her for getting annoyed and calling it a dogwhistle, because of how often the people who talk about it only care about the victims so far as it lets them justify hating Muslims. A white grooming gang was convicted earlier this week and it’s absolute radio silence from the usual suspects.

6. The party whose politicians had zero shame and never stood down, even after the most egregious failures.

7. Its a shame the Tories weren’t so passionate about this issue during its 14 YEARS of governments.

8. She’s right though. The “grooming gangs” scandal is about misogyny. The girls weren’t believed because, as the investigative reports prove, they were thought of as being little slags who deserved it. And that’s not by some Pakistani immigrants, that’s by our own police officers.

   We get rid of all of the immigrants, and little girls will still be abused by groomers as the vast majority of groomers in this country are white. The only difference is nobody who’s making noise about it now will really give a shit because they won’t be able to use it to further an anti-immigration agenda.

    That’s how it’s being framed now because it deflects the blame onto ‘political correctness’ and away from their own inaction. Oh we couldn’t do anything because we’d be called racist, etc.

    If only there were all these people desperate to help them but being hobbled fighting the good fight by those in authority shutting them down for political reasons. The scandal is that a lot of these girls weren’t helped because no one cared. They were viewed not as victims but with distain, trashy low class girls that were willing. That’s why they were described and treated as prostitutes when it was brought to the attention of police and others in authority. Now those people reframe this contemptible behaviour as being that they did want to do something but kept being hampered by seniors stopping them because it would upset minorities.
