Turkish Naval Ship TCG BÜYÜKADA received a warm welcome from the Turkish and Pakistan Navy officials after arriving at Pakistan’s Karachi Port on Sunday.
According to a press release issued by Directorate General Public Relations on Sunday, the ship arrived on a goodwill visit. During the visit, the crew members of the Turkish ship will engage in a series of professional interactions with Pakistan Navy personnel.
The official statement said that the aim of the visit is to boost mutual understanding and strengthen maritime cooperation between the two navies, and it stands as a testament to the ever-strengthening maritime collaboration between Pakistan and Türkiye.
It reflects deep-rooted mutual trust and strategic partnership between two brotherly nations, anchored in centuries-old historical and cultural ties, said the official statement.
This visit of the Turkish Naval Ship to Pakistan comes at a time when the diplomatic ties between India and Pakistan continue to strain. Tensions between both countries escalated after terrorists opened fire in Jammu-Kashmir’s Pahalgam and left 26 including 25 tourists and one local dead.
In response to the attack, India took several punitive measures against Pakistan and also vowed strong action against the attackers. New Delhi suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, closed the Attari Border, and cancelled the visas of Pakistani nationals.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said it is his responsibility to work with the armed forces and give a “befitting reply” to those who cast an evil eye on India.
“As the defence minister, it is my responsibility to work with my soldiers and ensure the protection of the country’s borders. And it is my responsibility to give a befitting reply, by working with the armed forces, to those who cast an evil eye on our country,” Singh said.
