The Maison du Grand-Duc and the State Ministry released the first details on Monday regarding the schedule of events for the throne transition.
According to a statement, the official ceremony will take place on Friday, 3 October. On that day, Grand Duke Henri will sign his abdication in the presence of the President of the Chamber and the Prime Minister. Afterwards, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume will be formally sworn in as the new Grand Duke in the Chamber.
The Grand Ducal family will then appear on the balcony of the Palace, and the public will have the opportunity to greet the new Grand Ducal couple at the Place Guillaume II.
The first day of celebrations will conclude with a gala dinner at the Palace.
On Saturday, 4 October, celebrations will take place throughout the day in towns and symbolic locations across the country. The public is invited to meet the new Grand Ducal couple at three major festivities marking the transition of the throne, held in Wiltz, Dudelange, and Luxembourg City, with additional stops in Steinfort and Grevenmacher.
The day will conclude at the Glacis, with a drone show accompanied by a concert highlighting the Luxembourgish artistic scene.
On Sunday, 5 October, the Grand Ducal family will, at the invitation of the Archbishop, attend a Te Deum at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Luxembourg.
