  4. Europeans: Such good news, Ukraine really needs the help. With a bit of luck they’ll send back the cardboard packaging so’s I can use it as a windbreak around my place under a bridge.

    Other Europeans, I’m so glad that our fearless leaders have decided to assist Ukraine, I’ll gladly help out at the front line if called upon to protect our democratic system and I totally understand that our recent arrivals will stay behind and look after our wives and children until I return, cos they have already experienced terrible war in Turkey, Pakistan and India and can’t be expected to fight again.

  8. Why wait? Foreing minister Lavrov has already made it clear that the Russians have not dropped any of their maximalist demands.

  10. The problem is that even if peace was made, russia and its economy is already geared up for a long war. If war ended tomorrow and russia had to stop their war factories, their economic situation would suddenly feel very painful to common russians which is not what putin wants.

  11. To date, Russia has violated every peace agreement with Ukraine. It is a utopia to think that a new agreement will bring any change. A new agreement is only going to lead to more suffering and loss of life later in time, because Putin will not back down.

    The only way forward in my opinion is to enable Ukraine to force all Russians out from its 1994 borders. Once that is achieved, Ukraine should be admitted to NATO. Because the only language that Putin speaks and understands is brute force.

  17. I dont understand why Zelensky does not come out and say that since the deal has been signed with US for the minerals. He’ll give Russia 1 week to stop. Any attack after that will make the deal void between US.

I have a feeling that the commenters didn’t read the article… he said that they will start buying weapons from Ukraine instead of overpriced US and then for the same price they will get twice as much weapons. So they don’t want to increase their costs at all. I would imagine that the quality of the Ukrainian products won’t be the same as US because of the technology, know-how behind etc.

  21. Unfortunately, I don’t think double is enough. Also, where will hardware come from? Most stuff from reserves was already sent I assume (otherwise, why dont sent it now?) and Germany and France are investing in production only now. Had they done this in 2022, situation would be different

  24. Why not just do it anyway because Putin will just rearm and invade again.
