Tautumeitas are taking the stage for their First Rehearsal. Tautumeitas are representing Latvia with “Bur man laimi”the first song completely performed in Latvian for Eurovision since 2004. Bur man laimi was written by Asnate Rancān, Aurēlija Rancāne, Laura Līcīte and Gabriēla Zvaigznīte who are members of Tautumeitas and Elvis Lintiņš.
Tautumeitas will perform in the Second Semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest on the 15th of May.
Who are Tautumeitas?
Tautumeitas is a six-member world/folk band that formed in 2015. They first gained recognition when they competed in the Latvian version of The X Factor in 2017, finishing in fourth place. Their self-titled debut album, released a year later, received critical acclaim.
The group consists of Annemarija Moiseja on vocals and percussion; Asnate Rancāne handling vocals and violin; Aurēlija Rancāne on vocals and drums; Gabriēla Zvaigznīte on vocals; Kate Slišāne contributing vocals along with mandolin and clarinet; and Laura Marta Līcīte on vocals, violin, and percussion.
The Rehearsal
It was not a surprise that Tautumeitas kept the curtain from their Supernova performance. It’s a simple yet effective tool for creating atmosphere and intimacy. The performance uses light on parts of the curtain to generate pools of shadow that feel immersive and hypnotic.
Overall, the routine closely mirrors the Supernova version. There will be only subtle differences from their Supernova performance. The lighting is now more dramatic and powerful, with the LED wall even adding animal-like tails at one point—an effect that works perfectly when they’re positioned just right on stage. Their costumes have also evolved: swapping out the floaty dresses from Supernova for matching gold catsuits adorned with branch- and fin-like detailing, along with dazzling, colour-changing gold headdresses. Low fog will add magic and mysticism to the performance.
Latvia’s second rehearsal is scheduled for Thursday, May 8. Further details on their final staging are expected.
Photos from today’s rehearsal will be added as soon as they are available.
