The Third day of rehearsals continues. Now it’s the turn of Ireland. Emmy is representing Ireland in Eurovision 2025. The stakes are high after Bambie Thug brought Ireland’s best result in Eurovision since 2000.

However, Emmy is bringing a song that is the polar opposite of Ireland’s previous performance with her song “Laika Party“. Emmy wrote her Eurovision song together with Erlend Guttulsrud Kristiansen, Larissa Tormey, Truls Marius Aarra and Henrik Østlund.

Ireland will perform in the Second Semifinal of the Eurovision Song Contest on the 15th of May.

Who is Emmy?

Emmy Kristine Guttulsrud Kristiansen, known simply as Emmy, was born on September 13, 2000, in Sande, eastern Norway. A former choir singer, she first appeared on the scene in 2015 by reaching the superfinal of MGPjr with “Aiaiaiai”. She later performed across eastern Norway and began writing songs like “Bjørnar”, eventually competing in Melodi Grand Prix 2021 with “Witch Woods”, where she made it from the third semi-final to the final, although she didn’t reach the superfinal.

Since then, Emmy has also built a strong online following on TikTok, gaining over a million global followers, and has continued her songwriting career with credits on entries like “Woman Show” for Mathilde SPZ feat. Chris Archer and Slam Dunk, and “Ramtai” by Citi Zēni, which placed third in Latvia’s Supernova selection. Recently, she was chosen to represent Ireland at Eurovision 2025 after winning Eurosong 2025, finishing second with the international jury and first with both the Irish jury and public vote.

The Rehearsal

“Laika Party” has undergone a serious upgrade since Emmy’s winning performance on the Late Late Show Eurosong Special. Her silver playsuit has been swapped for a striking silver metallic dress featuring a pleated skirt, silver boots, and a distinctive helmet-like hood.

Emmy opens, bathed in spotlight, on a shiny metal platform resembling a lunar module, with her brother Erlend on keyboards in a metallic silver shirt and his signature star-shaped shades at stage level. Four female dancers in silver trousers and black/silver vests perform during each chorus. The vibe and energy remain reminiscent of the Irish national final, yet the routine is far more precise and polished, amplified by Basel-scale staging. Neon lighting and LED walls replace the floating bones seen previously with neon planets and animated marching space dogs in sync with every beat, and during the chorus, the main LED wall reveals a constellation of stars forming Laika the dog.

Emmy will have for her performance big fireworks jets in the final chorus, like a party in the sky.

Ireland’s second rehearsal is scheduled for Thursday, May 8. Further details on their final staging are expected.

Photos from today’s rehearsal will be added as soon as they are available.
