Hey guys, I hope everyone doing well. I have a question about this price range, I already ask to studentenwerk (they didn't reply) and search in net but could't find any info. Is such a range given according to our electricity and water consumption? Or what's the deal? Thanks in advance.

  1. Might be different houses with different distances to the university or with different flat sizes / different ages of the flats (last renovated in 2024 vs last renovated in 2000 etc etc)

  2. Those are probably not 105 totally equal flats. Some may be a bit larger, others a bit smaller. Maybe some have other desirable qualities (balcony, view, …) which make them slightly more expensive.

  3. Usually the lower the price the more roommates you have to share a kitchen/WC with.

  4. As already stated it might vary depending on the flat size. Electricity, water and even internet is usually included in the dorm rent.

  5. And as a point of information: There are usually not that many Dormitory places, and many students live in WGs (Wohngemeinschaften, several students rent a flat together) and share the rent.

For general rent tanges, google “Mietspiegel” + the city you are interested in, and look for “Kaltmiete” and “Warmmiete” or “mit Nebenkosten” and “ohne Nebenkosten”.

Usually also you pay electricity extra through a direct contract with the electriciy provider.
