All five boxes now have occupants! I'm set for 150 tubes filled, and with a conservative estimate of 13 per tube, I will have 1,950+ cocoons this season 😀
Here is my previous post showing five hours of progress, these ladies work incredibly hard 💪🏻

I’m a simple person, I see a nice post about eco friendly human activities and I upvote it.
The bees are happy.
Like lots of Japanese workers snug in their sleeping pods
Where did you get your boxes from? I’ve read that some ones that are sold aren’t suitable for the animals in question.
Is there an easy way to make these at home without the absolute terror of sawing dry bamboo
This is the bees knees.
Do they understand what solitary means?
Should we even tell them? They seem happy

I love solitary bees, particularly red mason bees.
We built a bee house for them on our allotment about 5 years ago and we’ve now expanded to 4. They are great for early crops and in particular strawberry’s. The males (with white moustaches) try to find the females as they hatch and explore anywhere with a hole to include ears and your hands if you make a loose fist!
Our bee houses need to be replaced for next year so we’re looking to buy or make ones like yours that can be cleaned out to prevent parasites.
Do the holes need cleaning out after they have ‘hatched'(?) ?
I have a bee hotel that comes apart but I’m not sure whether it should just be left alone
I thought I wasn’t going to see it – but there it was, in the penultimate photo…the solitary bee…
Please don’t upvote this; you know it’s a shite joke as well as I do… just the kind of mood I’m in…
Nice work, OP!
I have one of these that’s been up for years and unfortunately never been used 🙁 have you got any tips?
We have one with glass tubes and it’s amazing seeing them inside
