Number 10 won’t name ministers fined over partygate

  1. WTF! So how did we find out that important and accountable people like Rita Ora were fined then? As someone here pointed out, Boris will be named if he was fined, so he probably therefore is not fined then.
Also why did we have to wait for the Met’s action before obtaining any other investiagtive info if the Met’s investigation is then secret.

  2. Its great isn’t. Every interview with a HMG minister will now start with “Were you fined over partygate by the Met police?”

  3. >Number 10 had previously promised to reveal if the prime minister receives a fixed penalty notice, the fine for which would be expected to be £100, but openDemocracy understands this pledge still stands.

That’s odd. If you go look at the (now *removed* from the Met’s website) COVID police powers, it says this…

    >England
    >
    >People aged 18 or over can be fined:
    >
    >£100 for the first offence, lowered to £50 if paid within 14 days
    >
    >£200 for the second offence, then doubling for each further offence, up to a maximum of £6400

Isn’t it established that the PM was in attendance of around 7 of these parties?

Odd he’s not receiving a fine in line with what others would’ve expected.

The UK is in many ways a nice place to live, but good golly there are areas of British life, such as our politicians, that are fucking disgraceful.

  4. Sure would not want to embarrass the “royalty aspirants” … being held accountable and having it done so publicly is so pedestrian and should only be done with the poor and unconnected classes … pretty sure it’s a British rule for the current ruling oligarchs… I meant elected officials.

  5. We are a banana republic. Nothing more, nothing less.

Wold class chumocracy, word class kleptocracy & world class lying.

  6. The Panama, Pandora and Paradise Papers all showed that you cannot keep things secret forever. We may not know now but we will some day, those involved should remember that.
