  1. Germany, don’t become a total shit show please! We have enough going on right now.

  2. So… what happens now? They will hold a second round right but that is a massive pushback. Also, is the vote transparent, do they know who from the coallition voted against?

  3. I see the Germans are taking their usual time to form a Government.

  4. They have 14 days to get him elected with a regular majority election. It’s up to him or the Bundestag to have the elections as they please. After that it suffices if the “yes” votes outnumber the “no” votes. So he will most likely get elected, just later…

  5. One by one, our neighbouring countries have really outdone us with their political shenanigans the past few years. Not sure how to feel. This is supposed to be our thing.

  6. Ouch. This is the second time after the disastrous vote on border security where Merz got hurt politically by a surprise Bundestag vote. And all of this even before he began his term as chancellor.

  7. With AFD drooling over the shoulder I’m not sure this is good.

I just want pro-democracy parties in power no matter progressive or conservative. As long as they are democratic

  8. First time this has ever happened in the history of the BRD

  9. Wow, Germany is being belgiumised. Weird weird timeline we’re living in.

  10. I don’t think it’s that surprising. From what I’ve heard (Germans, correct me if I’m wrong), he’s already backtracked or changed his mind on issues he brought up during his election campaign

  11. This is almost peak Italian politics, well done guys!

“Pelato maledetto, non sarai mai eletto!”

  12. The world is in a downward spiral. The billionaires are winning. It’s bloody bleak.

  13. “Smart people learn from their mistakes. But the real sharp ones learn from the mistakes of others” – Brandon Mull

“Fools don’t learn at all” – proved by coalition (presumably SPD)

  14. Naming Dobrind was probably a big turnoff after the disaster that man did last time he had a position in the government

  15. What a shitshow. They will do everything to ensure that the AfD comes to power in the next elections, won’t they?

  16. Unbelievably idiotic. I wonder what were those 18 expected to achieve besides strenghtening opposition, like fucking AFD or BSW.

  17. This guy is Hillary Clinton plus Lis Truss, obviously corrupt, useless, has no idea of what integrity is and fucks up literally everything he touches, completely paving the way for afd. History is repeating right in front of your eyes. This is so fucked up.

  18. this is speculative, but instead of suspecting SPD votes here, its just as likely that far right tending CDU members voted against Merz, further destabilizing democracy…MAGA, Nazis and Maganazis, what a time to be alive.

  19. Btw this has never happened before. Fotzen Fritze can’t do it🤣

  20. Yeah now is NOT the right time for infighting when the Nazis have doubled their presence in the Bundestag. Circle the wagons you idiots.

  21. Bitte alles, aber kein Kanzler Söder. Ich will auch immer lieb sein.

  22. Too many in the SPD, and AfD sympathisers in the CxU who would like Putin as Chancellor instead?

  23. Well, this is what happens when you contradict all your own stated policies before even taking power. The only thing they did in line with their own rhetoric is to appoint a bunch of rich CEOs and lobbyists to political positions, which is obviously disgusting and not going to help matters either.

I can’t believe people went back to voting for the CDU. Maybe at least they’ll bother to put up someone less disgusting now.

  24. Germany, you have to put your sh*t together, and fast. At this point, I fully expect some Russia’s agents trying to weaken or even block Merz. Or maybe some of those parliamentarians are idiots, you’re never sure these days.

  25. This is not the time to teach Merz a lesson. Fucking idiots

  26. What could possibly be gained by this? A borderline fascist party is riding high in the polls and democratic voices are being needlessly fractured by a small group of MPs. Woefully irresponsible.

  27. Those voting against him, and thus creating useless chaos like this even though a coalition deal has already been made, are just handing free points to the AfD. Keep at it, and maybe the next elections will be the last ones Germany will ever have.

  28. He is extremely unsympathic, egomanical, politically ruthless, yet spinelesss. He has absolutely no message to the people, no clear vision and it shows. The worst part? Germany has been struggling with bone-breaking antiflexibility economically. A gigantically bloated regulatory apparatus, that destroys every opportunity for a company to make firm business. And all the things they agreed upon now for the future is going to make it much worse. They implement completely contradictory measures for the economy.

The economy is hanging in the noose. What do they do? Increase the business tax to tighten the grip more. These people are dumb as shit.

  29. Another dysfunctional government, well you’ll they’ll fit right in with other EU countries.

  30. Seems like they’re going to push for re-elections; this time without the AfD…

  31. As a green voter, as much as I dislike Merz, I hope a couple of green members of parliament vote for him in the second round to get this shitshow over with and prevent any more damage. Because I’m afraid if Merz is forced to step down, Spahn will become the head of the CDU and he seems more open to working together with the AfD.

  32. As much as I hate this fuckface, i wish spd’d stop playing games.

  33. Demonstration of collective suicide. Europe is throwing itself out the window. And Putin laughs.

  34. This is exactly why parliamentarians should not be allowed secret voting. If you’re going to vote against the wishes of your constituents, you should be forced to do it publicly.
